春可踏青品魚。春回大地，萬物復甦，山花浪漫，城外羣山峽谷成了踏青的好去處，尤其是松花湖冰雪消融後的開江時節，伴着祭江薩滿古老的歌謠，滿江滿湖的鮮嫩水產成就了中國北方著名的開江魚美食節。

夏可避暑度假。盛夏時節，沿江兩岸百里生態公園，綠草如茵、花團錦簇、移步易景、美不勝收。距市區僅17公里的松花湖，水域面積550平方公里，碧波盪漾，青山疊翠，令人歎為觀止。中國著名詩人賀敬之遊覽松花湖後賦詩：“水明三峽少，林秀西子無。此行傲范蠡，輸我松花湖。”炎炎夏日，江濱湖畔，松花湖休閒度假旅遊節、雪花啤酒節拉開帷幕，為市民送上無盡的清爽和愜意，使吉林市成為譽滿中國的避暑度假勝地。

秋可觀楓賞樺。秋季來臨，滿目葱綠的江城轉眼間披上了絢爛的盛裝，燦若丹霞的紅葉谷，靜如處子的白樺林，沿着落英繽紛的山路，採摘天然的山鄉美味，讓人流連忘返。每至深秋霜降，中國規模最大、紅葉品種最多、色彩最迷人的吉林蛟河紅葉谷，層林盡染，色彩濃淡相宜、亮麗奪目。此時，長白山紅葉旅遊節盛裝開幕，各地遊人紛至沓來。

冬可賞凇戲雪。隆冬時分，中國北方大地千里冰封、萬里雪飄，唯有吉林市區的松花江依舊碧波盪漾，呈現出“一江春水碧，兩岸霧凇凝”的獨特景色，這就是與泰山日出、黃山雲海、錢塘潮湧並稱為中國四大氣象奇觀的吉林霧凇。嚴冬晨曦冉冉，朝陽燦燦，松花江岸長堤“忽如一夜春風來，千樹萬樹梨花開”，堪稱中國北方風光之最。享譽中外的中國吉林國際霧凇冰雪節成功舉辦了xx屆，每年都吸引大量的海內外賓客。吉林市還是聞名遐邇的滑雪天堂。北大湖滑雪場，20xx年承辦了第6屆亞洲冬季運動會全部雪上賽事。亞洲滑雪聯合會主席李勝原先生盛讚“北大湖滑雪場的資源在亞洲乃至世界都是一流的!”。朱雀山、北山等十幾座城區滑雪場，環境設施完備，讓遊人在綿綿雪山中飛揚馳騁，體驗運動的歡樂激情。

令人稱奇的是，就連一顆在太空生活了億萬年的小行星，竟也情有獨鍾撲奔而來。1976年，吉林市境內降落了一場隕石雨，方圓近500平方公里的範圍沒有傷及一人一畜和建築物，堪稱世間奇蹟，其中最大一塊隕石重達1770千克。從此，這顆世界最大的石隕石就成了吉林市博物館的鎮館之寶，至今已有300多萬人次觀賞了它的丰姿，有幸實現了“手可摘星辰”的夢想。

吉林市地處東北腹地長白山脈，向鬆嫩平原過渡地帶的松花江畔，三面臨水、四周環山。東經125″40′～127″56′，北緯42″31′～44″40′。東接延邊朝鮮族自治州，西臨長春市、四平市，北與黑龍江省接壤，南與渾江市、通化市毗鄰。總面積27120平方公里。其中，市區3636平方公里。

地貌特徵：吉林市有"遠迎長白，近繞松花"的形勢。由於不同時期的大地構造運動，以及江河的侵蝕、剝蝕和堆積，形成了中山山區--低山丘陵區--峽谷湖泊區--河谷平原區的地貌，地勢由東南向西北逐漸降低的地理景觀。

中山山區，位於吉林地區中、東部和東南部，是全市主要林區和特產區域。南有長白山地龍崗山脈，檔南有龍崗山脈的餘脈富爾嶺，東北部和呼蘭嶺。松花湖東有老爺嶺，湖西有摩天嶺、南樓山、肇大雞山，皆為中山山羣。山區中有1000米以上高峯110座。最高山峯南樓山，海拔1404.8米。

低山丘陵區，分佈在蛟河、樺甸和舒蘭市、永吉縣的中部。山嶺海拔300400米，少數山峯高600-700米，是開發較早的區域。森林已經逐漸減退。除佔地1748平方公里的吉林市城區外，蓁區域是全省重要的農業、林業、畜牧、漁業及工礦區。

峽谷湖泊區，分佈在豐滿電站大壩到白山水庫上游金銀別的沿湖、沿區區域，是豐滿、紅石、白山三大梯級電站建成後形成的地貌區域，環境幽美，景色狀觀，是大有前途的能源、特產、漁業、旅遊綜合性經濟開區和建立良好生態環境的重要生態經濟區。

河谷平原區，分佈在松花江中游、永吉縣北部、舒蘭市中部及松花江支流的局部地段。一般海拔170-220米，耕地集中，土壤肥沃，適宜農事耕作，是重要的農業經濟區。

吉林市幅員面積27120平方公里，轄4區(昌邑區、船營區、龍潭區、豐滿區)、5縣市(永吉縣、舒蘭市、磐石市、蛟河市、樺甸市)。轄78個鄉鎮、71個街道辦事處。
