On Saturday, Apple CEO Tim Cook, who was recently acclaimed as an even better leader than the legendary Steve Jobs, carved out a morning from his very busy schedule to deliver a commencement speech for the 20xx graduates of Tulane University in New Orleans.
Back in February, when Tulane confirmed Cook as its commencement speaker for this year, the university’s president Mike Fitts touted that the Apple CEO, who enjoys the reputation as one of the world’s most workaholic bosses, “represents the kind of success we hope all of our graduates can attain.”
But as soon as Cook stepped up to the podium on Saturday, his message to Tulane’s graduates became the very opposite of what was expected of him—instead of presenting himself as a role model for the young graduates in the audience, Cook encouraged them to challenge older generations’ successes and to find their own.

“You don’t need to look far to find an example of that failure,” he continued, pointing to an example that no one understands better than those living in the natural disaster-dogged New Orleans: climate change.
“This problem doesn’t get easier based on who wins an election. It’s about who has won life’s lottery and has the luxury of ignoring this issue, and who stands to lose everything. The costal communities, including some right here in Louisiana, that are already making plans to leave behind the places they’ve called home for generations and head for higher ground… When we talk about climate change, I challenge you to look for those who have the most to lose and find the real, true empathy that comes from something shared. When you do that, the political noise dies down and you can feel your feet planted on solid ground.”

Hello Tulane! Thank you President Fitts, Provost Forman, distinguished faculty, other faculty [laughs], and the entire Tulane family, including the workers, ushers, [and] volunteers who prepared this beautiful space. And I feel duty-bound to also recognize the hard-working bartenders at The Boot. Though they're not here with us this morning, I'm sure some of you are reflecting on their contributions as well. [The Boot is a popular college bar right next to Tulane's campus which has been around for decades.]
And just as many of you have New Orleans in your veins, and perhaps your livers, some of us at Apple have New Orleans in our blood as well. When I was a student at Auburn, the Big Easy was our favorite getaway. It's amazing how quickly those 363 miles fly by when you're driving toward a weekend of beignets and beer. And how slowly they go in the opposite direction. Apple's own Lisa Jackson is a proud Tulane alum. Yes. She brought the Green Wave all the way to Cupertino where she heads our environment and public policy work. We're thrilled to have her talent and leadership on our team.
OK, enough about us. Let's talk about you. At moments like this, it always humbles me to watch a community come together to teach, mentor, advise, and finally say with one voice, congratulations to the class of 20xx!

This is how we can overcome the erosion of trust and begin to collaborate to work through differences.
It takes courage to open ourselves up to opinions and interpretations we don’t agree with. But it’s also how we learn, sharpen our own arguments, and hone our ability to persuade others.
Your time at Michigan has provided a wonderful proving ground to develop your ability to create change. Where else can you seek solutions among such talented scholars, all pursuing knowledge and understanding to advance a quintessentially public mission?

有人説如今找工作難，找到好工作更難!的確，現實的情況就是這樣，參加過就業招聘會的人都知道，現在大學生真是太多了!但是你有沒有想過，大學生多僅僅是一個方面，工作崗位還是很多，尤其我們江蘇地區，最主要的原因還是不夠優秀，如果每個人都是用最嚴格的標準來要求自己，真正在大學裏面掌握文化知識，學會了為人的道理，學會了理性去思考問題，怎麼可能會找不到工作了!我想這句話是很重要的“沒有人會知道你有多大能耐，只有靠自己去證明給別人看”就這些方面結合我個人想法主要從以下幾點來談：
第一、要樹立自信的心理當然自信的背後也要有自己的汗水，要打有準備之仗，我相信上天總是將辛運之神降臨到辛勤勞動的人。在我出去找工作的過程當中，也遇到了不少的困難，但是你要相信這句話，“天生我才必有用”在很多人心理總是有這樣的陰影，認為我自己現在的雙重身份會不會引起用人單位的懷疑，會不會招受到用人單位的冷遇，會不吃閉門羹，這種心理我想人人都會有，但是從我過來人來看，現在用人單位看重學校的越來越少，關鍵是你是否有這個能力能夠打動面試的考官，有沒有這個能力一下子讓面試官對你有印象!在單位實習過程當中，我代表揚子江出去參加了七場招聘會，當然從被面試者轉變為面試官當時還有種不太適應的感覺，但是我清楚的感受到了這兩者之間的差距，那種差距其實就是概括成一句話“態度決定一切”，往往現在的學生都是比較自傲，沒有一種虛心的態度，總是認為自己了不起，這種心理千萬不能有，要努力踏實讓其他人對你的評價是了不起，坦然的面對一切。從不要掩飾自己的身份，不管是那個學校，只要你認真對待，對自己的前途負責，你就能獲得相應的成功。
第二、我主要講的是要有執著心理，不能放棄每次的機會，不能總是認為這次不行下次再來!在我每次面試過程鍾，我都是把握好機會，把每次的面試當作是最後一次，當作這就是我所想得到的工作，千萬不要想這次不行還有下次，下次不行還有下次。這樣你就會全力以赴去競爭這個崗位，當一個人充滿自信，充滿了渴望，我想事情已經成功了一大半!其實在座所有的人都能做到這一點，只是你願不願意去做，有沒有這樣的習慣。機會總是賦予哪些有頭腦、有準備，有毅力的人。
第三、我講到就是心寬，在茫茫人海中，肯定有比你強的人，如果和他們競爭，也許你會感覺到心理不是那麼自信，誠然，這種心理是很正常的，但是每一次都要把自己的水平發揮出來，就算沒有競爭過其他人，那麼在這次面試的過程當中為什麼輸給了競爭對手，自己要總結，就算給自己一次鍛鍊的機會，這就叫心寬，有了一次次努力，你就會自然的學會了如何去展現自己，我相信在座的每一位都很強，只要你們有信心，有膽識，就一定能到達勝利的彼岸。
在競爭的駭浪中，你不前進必然要倒退，你不努力，必然會失敗，現在學校給了我們這樣一個好的機會，我們就應該更加要努力，讓自己在宿遷學院的校園裏成長起來，再有着聯建高校做堅強的後盾，儘管放飛自己的翅膀，飛的越高越遠。

首先我想談談我在大學的收穫。其實原先沒有想到這個問題，上回應聘主考官問我這，記得當時為了求職説了些冠冕堂皇的話，現在覺得大學我的收穫並不是學到了多少知識，也並不是受到了那個教授，老師的薰陶，點撥，而是學會了怎麼去為人處世，怎麼去獨立，怎麼去快樂的生活，怎麼去正確的看待，分析社會的一些問題。這也許就是所謂的成熟吧，我覺得這些應該比知識還要重要些。
在中學同學印象中我也許是個勤奮，刻苦努力的人，但是在大學同學印象中，他們原話是你活的比較悠閒，其實意思是懶散，呵呵。確實，大學我包過夜，掛過科，頂撞過老師，逃課，抄作業是很正常的事，但是我並不認為這就是所謂的墮落，一方面因為我覺得國中是身體上累，高中是精神上累，大學有時只是想讓自己隨心所欲的生活一下，但還是有些人説看見你天天開開心心的，一定能長壽的，很高興我大學裏學會了怎麼去讓自己快樂的生活，也帶給身邊的人快樂。另一方面我還是知道什麼時候應該怎麼做的，考試前半個月我會是最努力的一個人，上回應聘我簡歷第一個做好，天天睡懶覺的我應聘前一天起了個大早牀去華科打探招聘信息。
大學同學都是從農村來的，家庭條件和我家一樣都不是怎麼好，但從他們身上我看見一種可貴的樸實，沒有誰浪費東西，沒有誰攀比誰穿的好或差，大家都明白父母賺錢的艱辛。都説大學是半個社會，但是我感覺到同學之間只有單純的同學情，朋友情，兄弟情，大家最高興的事就是一起出去吃飯了，沒有多餘的錢就點幾個小菜，有多餘的就搞點酒。也許我以後會走過很多地方吃過很多天下美味，但是我最懷戀的肯定還是大學學校門口的豆瓣鯽魚和麻辣豆腐了。
還記得和老蔣，紅軍一起在食堂門口擺攤賣書，每回賺個十幾塊錢就去食堂揮霍掉。還記得和枴子，小羅還有兩個姐姐去教室整氣勢(就是打牌)，輸了就畫烏龜。還記得有回包夜停電我們回寢室從一樓翻上二樓，好黑人啊，還記得在球場上飛奔的快樂(現在長胖了，跑起來有點吃虧了，哎，顛峯狀態已經過去了)，還記得全班一起坐22個小時的火車去上海遊玩、實習。在火車上一起忍受飢餓，疲勞與顛簸。在上海一起參觀大型船舶，憧憬着未來……
大學的工作，一個行業的興衰決定着大學生的就業，還好船舶行業現在發展的相當好，我們畢業生也跟着沾光。當我找到工作時馬上跟認識同學，朋友，親戚打電話，有些人認為我是炫耀，其實並不是炫耀，我只想過“如魚飲水，冷暖自知”的生活，我也沒有炫耀的資本，只是大學以前有些很要好的説我這麼內向，不善交際的人以後誰要啊!我現在只是想向他們證明自己(就這麼單純的想法)。有些親戚很勢利(還是很懷戀小時侯，雖然親戚們都沒有什麼錢，但之間的關係相當融洽)，瞧不起我的父母，我只想告訴他們，我父母雖然沒有你們有權，有利。但他們用微薄的收入也把我培養出來了，用他們的慈愛教會我怎麼做人，也沒有求過你們什麼，也沒有佔過你們便宜，有個同學説“以後努力賺錢砸死勢利的人”但是父母從小就培養的了我寬廣的胸懷，對我身邊的每個人我都會真誠對待，但我會用我的方式告訴他們怎麼為人。
