春秋戰國時代，一位父親和他的兒子出征打戰。父親已做了將軍，兒子還只是馬前卒。又一陣號角吹響，戰鼓雷鳴了，父親莊嚴地托起一個箭囊，其中插着一隻箭。父親鄭重對兒子説：“這是家襲寶箭，配帶身邊，力量無窮，但千萬不可抽出來。”
那是一個極其精美的箭囊，厚牛皮打製，鑲着幽幽泛光的銅邊兒，再看露出的箭尾。一眼便能認定用上等的孔雀羽毛製作。兒子喜上眉梢，貪婪地推想箭桿、箭頭的模樣，耳旁彷彿嗖嗖地箭聲掠過，敵方的主帥應聲折馬而斃.
果然，配帶寶箭的兒子英勇非凡，所向披靡。當鳴金收兵的號角吹響時，兒子再也禁不住得勝的豪氣，完全背棄了父親的叮囑，強烈的慾望驅趕着他呼一聲就拔出寶箭，試圖看個究竟。驟然間他驚呆了。
一隻斷箭，箭囊裏裝着一隻折斷的箭。
我一直刳着只斷箭打仗呢!兒子嚇出了一身冷汗，彷彿頃刻間失去支柱的房子，轟然意志坍塌了。
結果不言自明，兒子慘死於亂軍之中。
拂開蒙蒙的硝煙，父親揀起那柄斷箭，沉重地啐一口道：“不相信自己的意志，永遠也做不成將軍。”
把勝敗寄託在一隻寶箭上，多麼愚蠢，而當一個人把生命的核心與把柄交給別人，又多麼危險!比如把希望寄託在兒女身上;把幸福寄託在丈夫身上;把生活保障寄託在單位身上…

梅花魂講述了“我”的外祖父對祖國的眷戀之情，而梅花是祖國的象徵。梅花體現了中華民族的精神——不屈不撓。所以，外祖父對梅花的分外喜愛。“不管歷經多少磨難，不管受到怎樣的欺凌，從來都是頂天立地，不肯低頭折節。”外祖父喜愛梅花，正是讓自己想念祖國的時候，想到梅花，讓自己保持梅花的秉性。外祖父也有一顆“中國心”啊!
中國，文明古國。但被“強盜”們欺負了千年!這都是清政府的腐敗，腐敗呀!中國人民生氣了，東方巨人生氣了。中國人民堅強不屈，頂天立地，終於擺脱了“強盜”的困擾，這就是堅強的“梅花魂”，不屈的“中華魂”啊!
你們還記得嗎?英法聯軍在1860年10月6日那一天侵入北京，把圓明園搶劫一空後放火焚燒，大火燒了三天三夜。這是中華民族多少人智慧的結晶啊!
同學們，一個國家如果落後就要捱打，只有祖國富強，民族振興，才不會遭受外來者侵略。我們現在要更加努力學習，把祖國建設的更加美麗，更加富強!成為真正的“中華魂”傳承人吧!

過去人們住的是草房窯洞，現在我們生活變的越來越好，一棟棟高樓大廈如春筍拔地而起;過去的人們大多因家境貧困而無法讀書，現在的我們可以坐在寬敞明亮的教室裏，聽知識淵博的老師講課，下課後還可以到寬闊的操場上做遊戲，這樣優美的讀書環境曾經引起多少人們的渴望啊!如果我們還不努力學習，那就太對不起我們偉大的祖國了。

朋友，你們讀過瑪格麗特·米切爾的著名長篇小説《飄》嗎?這是一部長達百萬字的宏偉鉅著，我沒有讀過，但我讀過《飄》的一本簡讀本，我還看過根據小説拍攝的電影《亂世佳人》。
我最喜歡的一句話，就出自小説的女主人公——“思嘉”之口，在小説的結尾時刻，面對即將破裂的婚姻，思嘉毫不氣餒地説，“太陽每天都是新的!”
“太陽每天都是新的!”這句話説的多好呀!現實生活中，我們會遇到許許多多的困難與挫折，有學習上的煩惱，有與同學相處過程中產生的矛盾，有與爸爸、媽媽的感情衝突等等……面對種種考驗，朋友們，請用這句話來激勵我們自己吧，永遠不要對人生感到失望。
不管困難有多大，任何時候，我們都要告訴自己，“太陽每天都是新的!”明天在向我們召喚，只要我們希望長在，經過艱苦不懈的努力之後，美好的生活就一定會到來的。

I received a devastating blow to my self'confidence in the first interview of my college years. I applied to be a host in our Student Acting Troupe and felt confident that I would be accepted. But one of the panel members told me: “You seem inadequate and you are a little vertically'challenged.” My life has never been the same since. I used bigger heels to complement my height and psychological maneuvers and tricks to hide my lack of confidence. But no matter how hard I tried to look the part, there was still something missing. As president of English Club, I organized the rehearsal of Snow White for an English party. Unfortunately, we could not find an actor to be the last dwarf. It had to be someone who was humorous by nature and fluent in English. Suddenly, all eyes turned to me, and I knew I would have to be the dwarf. To my great surprise and delight, once on stage, I was totally absorbed in the performance and my humorous nature was put to full use. As the dwarf, I was a big hit.
Yes, each of us is only one among millions of others, but each of us is an individual and each of us is unique. Cultivating our individuality will transform our lives, making of them a kaleidoscope of new colors and textures.
A world deprived of diversity would be a bland and boring place. The real tragedy is not being short or shy or ugly, but having your identity lost in a world in which everyone is a clone of a model cool boy or a flawless charming girl.
