調整後四級聽力部分的試題結構見下表：
改革之處：
短篇新聞，原是英語專業四級與八級的題型，在改革去除之後，跑到了四級當中。
此次，四級中，會有3段新聞，7道選擇題。
兩篇較短的新聞，字數在130-140詞左右;較長的一篇，字數在200詞左右。
在四六級考試委員會此次所給出的樣題中，三段新聞皆出自於BBC News。
難點所在：
新聞聽力中，會出現大量的專有名詞與正式用語。同時，話題也將不再是大家熟悉的校園，生活類，而將轉變為時事政治與社會熱點。這對於原本聽力基礎就較為薄弱的同學而言，就更是雪上加霜。
2、聽力答案鍾愛的藏身處
1. 首尾處
開頭處：往往開門見山，直接切入話題。
結尾處：常歸納或重申作者的觀點。
2. 對比、轉折、讓步處
對比、比較：as... as..., the most...
明顯轉折：although, though, even though, in spite of, despite, however, but, yet, while, whatever
隱含轉折：not... but..., instead, rather than, in contrast, on the contrary, far from..., otherwise, unlike, on the other hand, more... than..., not so much... as...
特殊含義詞轉折：unexpected, unexpectedly, surprise, surprisingly, unfortunate, unfortunately
3. 因果關係處
明顯因果：because, for, as, since, in that, be due to, given, considering, as long as, if, when, while, so, so that, therefore, thereby, as a result, consequently, accordingly, thus, hence, so... that..., so... as to..., then, ...
隱含因果：lead to, cause, reflect, result in, give rise to, derive from, result from, portray, present, require, suggest, on the basis of, represent, be based on, for the reason that..., rely on, spring from, make, underlying, ...
4. 舉例及並列列舉處
